Program Manager and Fellow Nad’a Kovalčíková joined the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights for an interview as part of their “AI and Covid-19 Digital Disinformation Initiative” series in partnership with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, which aims to increase understanding about the complexities of the intersection of AI, disinformation and freedom of expression, pertaining to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nad’a discussed the key challenges raised by digital disinformation during the coronavirus pandemic; AI’s role in enabling disinformation; legislative, administrative, policy, regulatory, or other measures governments have taken to counter disinformation online; policies, procedures, and other measures introduced by digital tech companies; impact on freedom of opinion and expression; and what governments and civil society can do to protect and promote the right to freedom of opinion and expression while countering digital disinformation.
