Swiss government hit by pro-Russian hackers

On January 17, 2024, a cyberattack temporarily disrupted access to multiple Swiss government websites. The pro-Russian group NoName claimed responsibility for the distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, initiated in response to Ukrainian President Zelenskiy’s visit to the World Economic Forum taking place at the time of the hacking in Davos, Switzerland. According to Switzerland’s National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), “an attack of this kind had been expected, and appropriate security measures were in place”, which allowed officials to restore the websites in a timely manner.
