Russian military intelligence agency (GRU)-connected hacker group Fancy Bear attacks German Parliament
In spring 2015, the Russian military intelligence agency (GRU)-connected hacker group known as Fancy Bear, or APT28, carried out a cyberattack on the German Parliament, according a 2018 minority staff report by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Initially German officials could not confirm where the attack originated from, but in 2016, a senior security agent stated that the cyberattack was “clearly attributable to a Russian military intelligence service.”
