Russian government-connected activist founds pro-Russia political party
In February 2015, Mateusz Piskorski founded the Zmiana (“Change”) party with Justyna Wroblewska and Tomasz Jankowski. Piskorski is also the founder of the pro-Russian think tank ECAG (which played a role in laundering Russian money) and by 2015 had already been advocating radically pro-Russian views, participated in interviews on Russian state-sponsored television, and attended the Crimean independence referendum. In May 2016, Polish authorities raided Zmiana’s offices and arrested Piskorski for spying on behalf of Russia. Polish authorities allege that Russian security services financed the founding of Zmiana.
