FBI warns of Russian government-linked group’s router-hacking
On May 25, 2018, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) warned Americans that Russian military intelligence (GRU)-connected Fancy Bear, or APT28, “had compromised hundreds of thousands of… routers and could collect user information or shut down network traffic,” according to Reuters. The FBI added that the difficult-to-detect malware had been found in over 50 countries, Ukraine being the suspected “primary target for further actions.”
