Chinese protestors clash with Slovak human rights activists during Hu Jintao presidential visit
During Chinese President Hu Jintao’s 2009 visit to Slovakia, a group of pro-CCP protestors clashed with Slovak activists rallying to demand that Slovakia’s president raise human rights issues during the bilateral meeting. Reporting suggests that Xingmin Ji, the Vice-President of the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Slovakia, had convened the pro-Chinese group attending the rally, and some accounts even allege that members of Hu’s security team were involved in the physical altercations. Multiple people, including a Slovak university rector, human rights activists, and journalists, sustained injuries, and several Chinese nationals were detained by police.
