Advanced Persistent Threat 28, hackers affiliated with Russian military intelligence, hack into Ukrainian energy company Burisma, according to investigation by Ukrainian authorities.
Ukrainian authorities open an investigation into hacks by APT 28 (a.k.a. “Fancy Bear”), affiliated with the Russian GRU, into Ukrainian energy company Burisma. Burisma, with which former U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden was once affiliated, has been the subject of political questions in the United States in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary. APT 28 has a history of using cyber operations to interfere in U.S. elections, having hacked the U.S. Democratic National Committee (DNC)’s servers in 2016.
