Vitaly Milonov, a vehemently anti-LGBT Russian legislator, opened a “Russian human rights center” in Mitrovica without registering it. Milonov explained that the purpose of the organization is to aid the city’s ethnic Serbian population. Milonov does not recognize Kosovo’s statehood, and claims that ethnic Serbians living in Kosovo are subjected to a “real genocide” under the rule of “Islamic-Albanian occupiers and Turkish fascists.”
