French President Emmanuel Macron’s speech on nuclear deterrence last week was a show leadership from France on European security in the wake of Brexit, Senior Fellow Kristine Berzina explained on Deutsche Welle. She also noted that Macron’s tough nuclear stance is perhaps a stick that would allow him to extend a carrot to Russia in other ways.
