Since the start of the war in Ukraine, some members of the far-right media in the United States have been echoing Kremlin talking points and conspiracy theories justifying the war. By parroting and feeding Kremlin narratives, the far-right has provided Russian messaging with credibility and an alternative reality that casts Western allies as provokers in the conflict.
“The question is how much the far-right figures are going to impact the broader media discussion, or push their party,” said Bret Schafer, a senior fellow for the Alliance for Securing Democracy, a Washington nonprofit. “It serves them, and Russia, to muddy the waters and confuse Americans.”
