On February 21, 2015, a forged letter from Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist addressed to the CEO of BEA Systems Bofors AB Magnus Ingesson appeared on Swedish social media. The debunked letter contains an exchange between Hultqvist and Ingesson, in which Hultqvist signals Sweden’s intent to export an advanced Archer artillery system to Ukraine. The letter purportedly surfaced on a German news site, then appeared in Sweden and Russia on several pro-Russian websites. The Swedish Institute of International Affairs attributed the information operation to the Russian government.
