Former German Chancellor Schröder elected to the board of Russian state-controlled Rosneft
On September 29, 2017, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder was elected to the board of directors of Russian state-controlled oil giant Rosneft. Already chairman of the controversial Russian state-controlled Nord Stream 2 project, Schröder came under heavy criticism from all major German political parties, including his own Social Democrats, for apparently gaining financially from his previous role as chancellor and helping Russia extend its energy dominance over European energy supplies.
