Cooper argues that China is more likely to instigate confrontation with Taiwan when Xi Jinping feels he is “backed into the corner”. Cooper believes the real crisis period is within the next two years, as elections in US and Taiwan will make the fraught cross-strait relations even more difficult to manage.
