Russian state-sponsored APT28 targeted Democratic state parties in California and Indiana and other organizations connected with the 2020 election.

Russian military intelligence-sponsored APT28, or Fancy Bear, was flagged by Microsoft for targeting email accounts of democratic state parties in California and Indiana as well as election-related organizations in Washington D.C. and New York. According to an ABC News report, APT28 successfully entered systems containing voter registration information from two counties, but the counties involved were not disclosed. The related organizations included the Center for American Progress, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, according to a Reuters report.
