Russian hackers accused of operation targeting Norwegian parliament

In December 2020, Norway’s Police Security Service assessed Russian hackers as the culprits behind a cyberattack and data breach of parliamentary accounts. Multiple email accounts were compromised, and investigators noted that in some cases, “sensitive” content was extracted. APT28, also known as Fancy Bear, is a Russian hacker group that is believed to be associated with Russia’s GRU military intelligence agency that has been blamed for carrying out numerous cyberattacks on Western governments, think tanks, and corporations in recent years.
