A group of fake accounts on Facebook, Reddit, and Medium appear to have targeted former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovich to spread disinformation, including about Joe Biden’s role in U.S.-Ukraine policy. Accounts published false and misleading narratives supposedly concerning a “do not prosecute” list of individuals that Yovanovich is alleged to have provided to Ukrainian officials, though she has denied any such list existed. The network included Russian-language content as well as imperfectly translated English content, and leveraged some existing Russian-affiliated sites to publicize claims. Other false narratives that the Russian network spread included misleading descriptions of U.S.-U.K. relations under the Trump administration and of details relating to investigations of Trump campaign ties to Russia.
