Officials accuse the Kremlin of cyberattacks on COVID-19 vaccine-related targets.

American, British, and Canadian officials accuse Kremlin intelligence-connected hackers from group APT29, or Cozy Bear, of attempting to steal COVID-19 vaccine research by targeting biotech companies. The National Security Agency (NSA) noted that the hackers were not looking to sabotage vaccine research efforts, but to expedite Russian vaccine development. APT29 deployed malware and sent fraudulent emails to harvest log-in credentials. Officials suggested that the attacks have not been hugely successful, but were prolific enough to warrant an international advisory.
