It has been a year since the historic U.S. presidential election of 2016 with important elections happening across Europe in the interim. The government of the Russian Federation attempted to weaken the pillars of our democracy and undermine faith and confidence in our society’s most fundamental right — the ability to choose our own leaders. This effort was only the latest of Russia’s repeated and ongoing efforts to undermine democratic institutions and influence free and democratic elections throughout Europe. Its success has led Vladimir Putin to conclude that disruption is effective, and comes with little consequence.
Join the Washington, DC, Chapter of the Young Transatlantic Network of Future Leaders for an in-depth discussion with the Alliance for Securing Democracy on Russia's playbook to disrupt and divide democracies, including what Russia's disinformation networks continue to push on Twitter as spotlighted by the Hamilton 68 disinformation dashboard.
Discussants Jamie Fly and Laura Rosenberger will also unpack what the United States and Europe must to do counter, deter, and defend their elections and democractic institutions going forward.
